PostHeaderIcon Officially Assigned

We have officially accepted the assignment invitation from Tanzania. They asked Jonathan to be a full-time Vernacular Media Specialist (see article on front page of our website: www.jonathananddana.com for info on VMS) and asked Dana to fill a critical role as a full-time Accounting Manager. The branch there is very flexible so once Dana is there, if the accounting role doesn’t take a full 40 hours a week, she will be free to help the branch in other ways and/or help Jonathan with the VMS work. So we’ve accepted those roles realizing that God will use us in these and many other ways.

As far as a timeline, the orientation begins in August so we need to be at 100% support by June to have time to get our visas and plane tickets. We will have a month of orientation followed by 4 months of Swahili language school. By the end of 2007, we’ll be ready to jump into the work.
So, that’s a quick rundown of the basics. We’ll share more about Mbeya and what God is doing there as time goes on. We’re excited to see people get involved in this and jump on board! If you’re interested in partnering with us please visit the partner link on the home page of our website.

We woke up this morning to no hot water in the RV.  The water heater is acting up and I'm definitely not the pro to fix it.  Dana had enough hot water for her to get ready but I… well… it wasn't fun.  We got to Rockingham right on time and was fed an EXCELLENT fried chicken lunch by the church.  The funeral was a celebration just as Grandma wanted it to be as she was more than ready to go see Jesus.

I talked to mom on the phone.  They got a 2-year old Irish Setter ("Buster") from my brother to 'try out' to see if they would like to have him.  Mom already had one dog but was considering having this big one to take walking with her.  Ralph and she had Domino, a little black Pomeranian (sp?), for about a decade now.  Well, Domino walked over to get some food right next to Buster but the Setter didn't like it apparently.  With one quick bite to the neck from Buster, mom lost her little Domino.  His death was instant and painless but I just hate it happened.  Especially considering what mom is going through right now.  They decided to not keep Buster and are back at my brother's house with him in Lake Wylie, SC.

So, tomorrow morning is coming quickly and there is still a lot to do in the house.  Please pray for us all.  We need it.

PostHeaderIcon Loss of another

It's been less than one week since Papaw's death and now Dana's Grandma passed away early this morning.  Thanksgiving plans shifted two or three times during the day today as we waited to find out when the funeral will be.  It's scheduled for Friday afternoon in Rockingham.  All of this is really taking a toll on us.

We'll be headed to the mountains tomorrow evening to stay the night and day for Thanksgiving.  We'll have to come back that night in order to get up and go to R-ham Friday.

PostHeaderIcon Closing on the Horizon

The closing on the house is a week from this coming Thursday.  That meant that after an almost full day of class, we had to go to the house to clean up some more.  There's quite a bit of work left for us to do.  Sleep will come easy…
