If you look to the right, you’ll see a new section I added to my blog called “Twitter”.  If you don’t know what Twitter is, here’s a pretty good explanation on Wikipedia.  This addition will now allow me to micro-blog or post frequent short updates about what’s going on in my day in Tanzania.  You can follow what I twit… twitter… tweet… shoot, I don’t even know what to call it.  You can follow what I write (how about that?) either here on the side of my blog or directly on twitter.

Karibu twita bwana! I think it’s a great tool for people overseas to share what they’re doing so people can be praying, and also good for linking supporters and others directly with your day to day life.

We’re really wanting to encourage people to use it within Wycliffe UK, particularly people overseas – here are some Wycliffe UK twitterers: http://www.wycliffe.org.uk/twitter2.html

Tanzania seems to be very, very tough on cars. Viggo and Julia had a similar experience with their first car (a used Land Rover). They finally bought another (a nice Toyota, but used) and sold the first. It’s doing better, but things continue to break. Driving to and from Nairobi they snapped one of the thick steel tubes that is part of the spare mounting system (or something like that). Julia says they hear a consitent stream of car breaking problems from other missionaries.
Probably Africa is one of the few places besides the battlefield where a Humvee would make sense.

I’m sure the enemy takes advantage of all the normal wear and tear to plant seeds of discouragement. We will keep praying.
