Hooked on: Chihuly
Posted in General, Travel by: AngelaIt’s Friday, and you know what that means?! Yes, of course you do! It’s time for Julia’s Hooked on Friday’s Party!!
This week, I am hooked on: Dale Chihuly’s Glass Artwork. I had never heard of Chihuly until a friend of mine emailed me pictures from an exhibit he went to at the Kew Gardens in London some years ago. Since then, I’ve been an avid fan!!
Through May 31st, you can see Chihuly: The Nature of Glass at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona. Oh, how I wish I could see this exhibit!! It looks amazing! Here is a glimpse:

The only Chihuly piece(s) I’ve seen is at in the Bellagio in Las Vegas. He did the ceiling in the lobby! Breathtaking!! Here are a couple of pictures that I was able to snap (that place is INSANE!):
Be sure to scootch on over to Julia’s Hooked on: Friday’s Party, and see what everyone is hooked on today while I dream of going to the Chihuly exhibit!

I love Chihuly… there is a large piece at my local botanical gardens. It is all yellow and white and just breathtaking!

I believe there is a gallery near Seattle of a bunch of his work – you should check it out if you are ever there!

Isn’t the glass ceiling an the Bellagio amazing?! We stayed there for 3 nights in 2007, and I just gawked at that ceiling every time I walked by!!
Thanks for posting the link to Dale Chihuly’s work
If I lived in Phoenix, I would definitely check out the glass exhibit.
Good to hear you enjoyed my circles!!

that’s so colorful and beautiful!
my sibs had graphic calculators, but I didn’t. I’m intrigued by this writing of notes on them-I want to find one, try it and photograph it!

I love his work! He did a very large piece for the 2002 Winter Olympics in SLC. It looks like a pillar of fire — reds and oranges — amazing. It is in the Abravanel Hall in SLC (Symphony Hall)
You can probably look it up and see photographs. It is so inspiring!

Last year his work was displayed at our botanical gardens and I didn’t really know anything about it and didn’t bother to go. My dad lives in Phoenix and went a month or so ago and said it was amazing. Now I’m wishing I’d gone!

I went to the Chihuly exhibit when it was at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and it was amazing! There is a permanent Chihuly piece in the middle of the garden. I am trying to remember the other place in Atlanta that has a Chihuly piece in the lobby….I can’t quite remember right now!
