Hooked On: Coupons

This week, I am Hooked On: Coupons!

I do not get the Sunday paper every week, and I do not obsess (although I LOVE – there is a fine line) about buying stuff on sale. Sometimes, when my husband and I really want something at the grocery store, we’ll get it whether or not it’s on sale. A couple of examples: Diet Pepsi, Lime Tostitoes. Those two items alone can ring up a bill of about $10.

That being said, I do love me some coupons!I don’t scour every nook and cranny to find them on the internet and such, but I do love (LOVE LOVE with big poofy hearts) when a big coupon spree happens with a big grocery store visit!

Prime Example:

Last grocery shopping trip:

Total Bill before Savings: $200.86

Total Bonuscard Savings: $58.10

Total Coupon Savings: $12.49

Yeah, baby.

Total Bills: $130.27

Total Savings: $70.59

I would also like to add that this was 2 – yes, TWO buggies full of groceries. See previous blog to understand why I needed to go shopping…

Now, go check out Julia’s Hooked on Friday’s Party to see what everyone is hooked on this week!!

I love me some FiFi’s Fashionable Friday Party, too! This week, I am not including my coupon post because I think coupons are the opposite of fashionable, but definitely check out her party to see what IS fashionable this week!

That is very impressive. I read several other of your blog entries and I am now hooked on your blog!

To be honest, I don’t use coupons too often. But we don’t get the newspaper or flyers, so we really don’t have the opportunity to get a lot of coupons.

Hubby is funny — he sends me an email every Friday and reminds me to check out the Food Basics flyer online. He likes shopping there :-)

I have some “store club” cards that let you save money on your purchases. Those come in handy — I just used one at the fabric store :-)

Thanks for your comment on our Hooked on Fridays post :-) The only reason we managed to get to the 100 post mark so fast is because there’s two of us writing posts!! Well, that, and we’re just a little bit addicted to blogging :-D

Hope you’re feeling better now…. looks like you have a great vacation to look forward to!! :-)

I don’t clip coupons but I do hunt for internet coupon codes if I can going to buy something over the internet. Sometimes you can find some great ones! You did a really good job on that shopping trip! You’re feeling better now? I hope so.

I love coupons too – but only the paper ones – not online! For some reason when I was a kid, I loved going thru the Sunday paper and reading the comics, and cutting coupons for my mom! I’ve traded the comics for the business sections, but I still love the coupons!

What a good shopper you are…here is my attempt to use coupons….get Sunday paper, go through coupons, cut coupons out, place coupons somewhere safe (as if thieves would break in and say….hey, where are the coupons)…..Monday…sun comes up, mommy takes shower, listens to kids complain that there is nothing to eat, where is the cereal, isn’t there any milk, dress youngest, yell at middle son to get ready (brush your hair-eee gads who gave you that haircut-answer-dad). Grab purse, get in car…head to store….realize coupons are at home safe and secure. sigh…throw stuff in cart….cringe at total bill….leave store ….. begin again next Sunday.
